Mr. Poon is a well-known entrepreneur and a pioneer in China's aviation finance. Mr. Poon has over 20 years of experience in direct investment, structured investment and aviation finance, and has focused on aircraft leasing and airport investment over the past 10 years.
Mr. Poon is the founder and the chairman of Friedmann Pacific Asset Management Limited (“FPAM”), which has developed into an investment holding company focusing on value creation along the aviation industry value chain. Its business scope has been extended to the investment and operation of aviation ventures around the world, including aircraft leasing, airport investment and operations and aircraft disassembly.
Mr. Poon founded China Aircraft Leasing Company Limited (“CALC”) in March 2006 and played an instrumental role in developing it into the largest independent aircraft lessor in China and one of the leading global players in the aviation industry. He was the key driver of the CALC’s listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2014, which made it the first listed aircraft lessor in Asia. Currently, Mr. Poon is an Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of CALC.
Mr. Poon founded China Airport Synergy Investment Limited in 2014, which is mainly engaged in the investment and operations of airports around the world. It acquired Toulouse-Blagnac Airport, the 5th largest airport in France, which marked the first airport privatization in France and the first Chinese consortium to purchase an overseas airport.
With the accumulated vision and wisdom in the aviation industry, Mr. Poon founded International Aircraft Recycling Co., Ltd. in 2014 and built a dismantling base in China in 2015, which is also the first aircraft dismantling base in Asia. Complete the last part of China's aviation industry chain.
Mr. Poon obtained the degree of bachelor of engineering from the University of Hong Kong in 1995, and obtained the degree of executive master of business administration (高级管理人员工商管理硕士) from Tsinghua University in 2005. Mr. Poon has been a CFA® charterholder of the Association for Investment Management and Research (now known as the Chartered Financial Analysts Institute) since March 2002.
Mr. Poon is currently a member of Heilongjiang Province Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (“CPPCC”) (中国人民政治协商会黑龙江省政协委员) , the Vice Chairman of HKCPPCC (Provincial) Members Association Foundation Limited (港区省级政协委员联谊会基金会副主席), the Executive Vice President of the Association for the Promotion of Hong Kong Heilongjiang Economy (“APHKHE”) and a member of the Youth Committee of APHKHE (香港黑龙江经济合作促进会常务副会长及属下青年委员会主任), the Vice President of Chinese Financial Association of Hong Kong (香港中国金融协会副主席), the Honorary President of Hong Kong Overseas Chinese Association (香港华侨华人总会名誉会长) and a member of the Youth Committee of All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese (中华全国归国华侨联合会青年委员会委员). Mr. Poon also obtained the World Outstanding Chinese Award (世界杰出华人奖) from World Chinese Business Investment Foundation (世界华商投资基金会) in 2006.
Mr. Leech is responsible for the development and ongoing management of ARI's used aircraft leasing business.
He is a senior aviation and management executive with 25-year experience of aircraft leasing, sales, trading and remarketing in commercial aviation. In addition, John has significant transactional experience at all stages of the aircraft life cycle including origination, OEM negotiation, mid-life transitions, deal flow, sales and contract negotiation, aircraft and customer analysis, optimization of aircraft life and creation of value. John has a proven track record in aircraft lease placements and sales in conjunction with a wealth of experience in high value and complex commercial aircraft transactions.
Previous roles include Senior Executive Director and Head of Marketing at GMT Global Republic Aviation with responsibility for sales, leasing and remarketing of owned fleet; Senior Vice President and Head of Sales and Marketing for Orix Aviation where he was responsible for the sales, lease placement and remarketing of all aircraft and engines both owned and in the managed fleet.
John is a well known and frequent speaker at Aviation events and is a graduate of University College Dublin, Ireland.
Mr. Li has extensive experiences and held various key technical and managerial roles in MRO and Airlines for the last 27 years. His last position with Air China was deputy general manager of Corporate Planning and he was responsible to Investment Management, Technique Innovation, MRO strategy and Business Development. Mr. Li. is responsible for the planning and set up of the operational procedures of CADC including production, material management, logistics, quality assurance and marketing and sales. Mr. Li graduated from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (now “Beihang University”) and received Bachelor’s degree of Engineering. He received his MBA from China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) in 2014.
